‘John & John’ Movie Becomes Ghana’s 1st Successful Film Adaptation—Beating Box Office Records
Kofas Media and Miracle Wave International’s 150,000 dollars’ budget
movie, John & John–The Tale of the Greedy Bastards, an all-star cast
film received a successful premiere in Accra yesterday at West Hills
Mall and Accra Mall’s SilverBird Cinemas.
Prior to the production, Director-Kofi Asamoah mentioned in a conversation that he was considering an all-star movie, which would be an adaption of multiple award-winning South African Director- Tim Greene’s 2011 Skeem.
Film adaptations from successful films are difficult just as sequel to classics—and therefore throughout our conversation, I kept asking Kofi Asamoah if indeed he wanted to do this. More also, he was going to take on the brilliant work of Greene and hundred and ten things could go wrong.
With the success of “Amakye and Dede” under his belt, Asamoah was confident and he took the challenge, calling it “John & John“, a film that has broken the high premiere records of “Amakye and Dede”.
GhanaCelebrities.Com has been told that, the film which was scheduled to show at the Accra Mall at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm—had to also be shown at 11pm, as the crowd kept coming, and the 5 booked cinemas were always full.
“John & John” features Pete Edochie, Kalybos, Ahuofe Patri, LilWin, Nana Ama McBrown, Kwaku Sintim Misah (KSM), Majid Michel, Funny Face, John Dumelo, Moesha, Dabo and several others.
With such tall list of brilliant star actors and Kofas media’s magic touch, there was no way ‘John & John’ was not going to pull a substantial crowd—but breaking Amakye and Dede’s premiere record at Accra Mall’s SilverBird Cinema was unanticipated
